The Women’s Centre of Jamaica (WCJ) addresses the health of adolescents in the broad context of their educational and employment needs. As such, its Adolescent Mothers Programme provides classroom instruction and support for mothers 16 years of age and under with the two aims of:
- Returning them to the formal school system
- Delaying the birth of a second child.
For unmarried and unemployed mothers over age 18, the program provides employment skills and job placement assistance.
